Mom and I did the Kokopelli Triathlon in St. George on Saturday. It was fun, but cold. I was 10th place overall and 1st in my age group. Mom also was an age group winner (only one in her age group). We walk around with together while showing off our medals. It was unexpectedly cold for St. George and very windy. It was the first time for mom to swim in a lake for a triathlon. Also there was a very, very tough hill to climb, but mom overcame all.
After the race we traveled north to Willard for Karla and Marvin's fiftieth wedding anniversary. It was good fun. Kara and mike came, and it was great to see them. They have been married now for three weeks. They look great together.
We had fast day today because of conference next week. We had great testimonies, but our sacrament song was pathetic.
BYU won their football game yesterday against hapless Utah State. BYU is at TCU in Ft. Worth on thursday night. I'll keep you informed.
We may be moving my grandma and grandpa Cerny to Utah. If so it will take place in November. We will keep you informed.
We enjoy following your missionary successes. We enjoy having you as a missionary. The DR needs more people like you.
Love and Kisses, DAD

Hi Nathan,
Hi Nathan,
I don't know if you already read the blog today. We say hi. We hope that you are doing great. We are getting excited for General Conference. This Saturday I get to go to the RS meeting. Next week will be the first time that John participates in the Priesthood session/Fuddruckers tradition. He thinks it sounds fun. He is training for the run from the church to the restaurant.
We pray that you will have the Holy Ghost with you. We pray for the people that you teach. We pray that they will want to listen to the prophet during General Conference.
Love,
Aly and John

Back to school
Hi Nathan,
Today we went to stake conference. They have started broadcasting stake conference and now it seems more like General Conference. We heard from President Samuelson, Elder Wirthlin, and President Monson. They told some good missionary stories. President Monson told the story of when BYU played Penn State in football. The Penn State football coach, Joe Paterno, went to lunch with the BYU football coach before the game. Joe Paterno asked their waitress if she was going to the game. She said that she wasn't because she had to work. He asked her why she had to work instead of going to the game. She told him it was so she could save enough money to serve a mission for her church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. At the end of the meal Joe Paterno gave her one hundred dollars and said he wanted to be a participant in her service. President Monson said, "I like Joe Paterno!"
President Monson gave another story about going to a conference in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was asked to meet with a family that was trying to get their dad to join the church. They were also struggling because they had just received a letter from their son who said that he wanted to quit his mission and come home. They didn't know that President Monson was going to Dusseldorf, Germany in a few days where their son was serving. President Monson was scheduled to talk at a conference where their son was going to be to listen. President Monson gave their son a blessing. He ended up staying on his mission. President Monson said that only the Lord could have known that he was going to be going to Dusseldorf. He was in the right places at the right times.
We helped Kirk and Shayna move this week. They moved into a beautiful house close to Weston. It is so pretty!!! I think Brynn and Ethan will love living there because it seems like there are tons of kids living on that street. Brynn was telling me she already has several friends at school. Kirk, Shayna, Hal Brown, John, Zeb, William, and everyone were working very hard late into the night because they had to move on Wednesday instead of Thursday. They were in desperate need of their star mover.
We are on the activities committee in our ward. We had a very fun talent show and chili dinner on Friday night and then a great breakfast on Saturday morning. I made so many pancakes! It was fun, but a lot of work.
We are busy discovering new science and engineering stuff. I heard that I passed the cumulative exam that I took back at the beginning of July. I was very excited. I have another one due on October 5th. If I pass it, then that is the last one that I have to pass!
We pray that you are doing well. We pray that you can "Carry on, carry on, carry on." That is what they told us to do in our stake conference.
Love,
Aly

Hi Nathan
Hi Nathan,
I wanted to post the pictures from Kara's wedding on the blog in time for you to see them this week, but I got so tired last night. While I was sleeping, John posted the pictures! It takes a long time (like a LONG time) to post that many pictures. When I woke up in the morning they were there. I hope that you like them. Love, Aly and especially love John.
