Hi Nathan , we want to hear about your zone conference

Hi Nate,

We did not get a blog from you this week so we hope that you are too busy being a missionary. John and I have been experimenting with the pressure cooker that mom and dad gave us for our wedding. We can make mashed potatoes in 5 minutes! Wowee!

I have been doing lots of work, but not really getting anywhere with my research. I am pretty discouraged. There are only a few promising leads. I will have to see what happens. John has been working hard at his water modeling. He is working on a particle tracking module. Sounds cool!

We are on the activities committee now. We are going to have a fun ward camp-out on September 8th. We are in charge of putting together a talent show. John gave a great talk on Sunday about strengthening the less active. He did a really good job. He told a story about three whales that were trapped off the coast of Alaska because they did not swim south when the sea started to ice over. The whales couldn't come up for air because the ice was too thick and they couldn't find their way out. A boat that cuts the ice came and saved the whales so that they had a way to swim to warmer water. I liked how he related the story to helping the less active members.

John bought me a book about the temple for my birthday. I cannot stop reading it! We are going to go to John's uncle's wedding next Friday night, and then Kara's (you know, Stagee) and Mike's wedding next Saturday. It is so fun to see all of these cuties get married.

We pray for you! We love you! We think (and know) that you are doing a great thing. Love, John and Aly

Kara's getting married to Mickey Apple (she got a bucket of apples for her shower!).

Some of the pictures are blurry because I didn't know that I had to hold the button down until a green light came on. I am glad that I found that out before the wedding! I hope that you are doing great. -AlyKara's shower decorations.

Rock over Provo

Hi Nate,

We hope that you are doing well. John has to give a talk this Sunday about strengthening the less active members. It makes me remember when President Hinckley said in April Conference that, "everything good that has happened, including my marriage, I owe to my activity in the Church." I loved it when he said that. I have been thinking that not only our belief, but also our activity in the church makes a difference in all of our lives. I have been reading in the Preach My Gospel manual about recognizing the spirit. I love where it says, "God loves you and all His children. He is anxious to support you in your practical and specific challenges." Sometimes I have to listen so hard to know how to help people.

We are getting excited for Kara's bridal shower. It is going to be this Saturday at 1pm. I will have to remember to take pictures. Aubrey is making it a very nice shower. She is so nice in doing it. I cannot believe all of the great people that us Cernys have been able to marry!

I have been eating lots of salmon from John's fishing trip. I say that I am eating Sammy the Salmon. John doesn't like salmon too much. He is missing out!

Keep up the great work. I do a type of experiment called an immunoprecipitation, but we call it an IP for short. I will try to do the IP on your P-day. Hahahahahahahaha.

Love,

Aly & John

Whoa, Nate you are doing totally awesome

Hi Nate,

It sounds like you are doing so great. It really is an answer to our prayers! We like to hear all the good news.

We have been working hard. I make John go to work too early. I am preparing a poster for my cancer presenation.

Right now I am laying down and John is folding clothes. I am very glad the US is a female dominated society. He makes me a good lunch every day too. It is like the sweetest thing you ever saw. He puts fwuuuuuit snaaaaaaaaaacks! I noticed before when I was single that whenever men get married they start bringing good lunches. Now it's me too. Ha ha.

Kara got her bridal pictures taken yesterday. I made cookies for the lady I visit teach, but John wants to eat them all. It is funny.

Keep the good news coming. We love you! -Aly and John

Wow. Big excitement here. Brynn was baptized. See pictures.
Kara was here this weekend. They are going to send out the wedding invitations soon. Preparations are going forward.
I flew to the Masters World championships at Stanford University and swam only one event-- the 800m freestyle. I finished in 24th place. Wow, peole are fast. Of course, Graham has already won two gold medals and set two world records. He aged up to 75 this year.

The people in my age group are just too fast.
We had a great testimony meeting with the elders and sisters today. The elders and sisters are just good.
I have plantar fascitis. That menas that I casnnot run for two weeks and my foot hurts. I hope that it gets better soon.
Mom and I are still in love. Love and KIsses, DAD
