Wow. So many pictures and messages. You must really be liked.
Daylight Savings Time is history. Is Halloween far behind?
believe it or else: Kirk and Zeb ran a 5k. Kirk beat Zeb. (Zeb went the wrong way.)
Mom and I missed it because of the funeral for Dr. Young.
MTC was really good today. The Spirit was strong.
Mom is reading about the pilgrims.
It is almost November--time to try to get signed up for the Moab canyonlands half marathon or 5 miler. You are picked by lottery.
Wes' remodeling is coming along. I understand that the roof has been raised. It has been nice weather-wise for a couple of days, but it will get colder tomorrow. Come on Dave and Wes, get that remodeling done.
We were at the Bishop's last night for a Halloween party. We were entertained by a ventriloquist who flew in from Dallas. He did a lot of impersonations of old rock and rollers and country and western singers. He also did Michael Jackson. He was really quicte good and very funny.
Remember: don't eat or slip on a banana. Love and Kisses, DAD

Xander playing. Xander was Woody from Toy Story.

Elvis lives!
Cruella de Ville
Sarah was Tinkerbell
John was a cowboy and dad was the Pillsbury doughboy or a cloud. We think he looks like a Ghostbuster too.
One of Brynn's friends.
Kirk was Jack Sparrow

Brynn and her friends
John eating an eyeball.

Marek was a dalmation and Ender was a monkey. The monkey feet are cute. Ender is just like his Uncle Nathan. He likes dressing in a monkey suit too.
Mom was a pilgrim. Shayna was a pirate.
Wes and Sarah
Isaac and Winnie the Pooh.
Trieste was Tinkerbell.
I was a bat. Ender liked eating candy!

Zeb came as Zeb. The one and only!

John's Trip to San Diego

The hotel I stayed in used to be a bank. I had to check for monies. I didn't find any :-(

This was the view out the window of the class I was teaching. I could hear police, ambulances, and fire trucks going by all day.

There was an old aircraft carrier that you could take tours of, but I didn't get to because we had to work all day and they don't give tours at night. I did take this picture of me standing by it though.

I also walked along the ocean on a nice path they have there.

Another picture by the aircraft carrier.

Happy DR

Hi Nathan,

Do people watch the world series in the DR? It is going on right now, but I am not sure which team is winning (Detroit of Saint Louis). John and I took lots of pictures at Kirk's Halloween party. It was so fun. You will love the pictures (coming next week). John went to Montana over the weekend and got a deer for us to eat. We will save you some. My professor said that he shot a deer when he was first married and that is all that they had to eat. His wife got gout (a disease from eating too much meat). We are getting so many bugs in our house. We don't know where they come from, but they are everywhere.

We are working hard on experiments. We pray that you will have lots of investigators.

Love,
Aly

Wow. That triathlon news is mighty impressive. even more impressive: Graham and Janis Johnston came twice to Scarament meeting at the MTC. They realay liked the missionaries.
We were at Kirk and Shayna's on Friday night for the annual Halloween party. I went as either a cloud, or a Pillsbury doughboy, or maybe a ghost. I had taken a white jumpsuit from the hospital OR, along with a white hat. Ethan was a mutant ninja turtle. Mom was Pilgrim lady. Wes came as Elvis. Aly was a bat, or maybe batwoman.
Annalee was a pirate. Trieste and Sarah were princesses. Ender was a monkey. (He didn't like his costume. He also likes beating on his drum.)Shayna was a pirate. So was Kirk. Marek was a dalmation; Aubrey-- Cruella deVille; Xander--Woody from Toy Story.
Some sad news: Dr. Young, the one who removed your wisdom teeth, was killed Friday night in an automobile crash. His wife and two sons have flown to Michigan, where the accident happened, in order to fly the body back to Utah for burial. Mom and I are very sad that it happened. The funeral will prbably be Friday or saturday.
The missionaries are great. I gave the Priesthood lesson today on Joseph Smith. I was well prepared, but at 7 o'clock in the morning who knows if the Holy Ghost is even awake. I know for sure that there is no oxygen. I love Joseph Smith. He really is a great prophet of God.
We have received so many blessings while you have been a missionary. We hope that you feel blessed and inspired every day.

Story

Hi Nathan,

I meant to write this story to you earlier today so that you would be able to read it. I guess you will have to read it next week.

I was standing in line at Costco and I started talking to the couple in back of me. They looked like they were about 75. The man had taught French in high school for his career and was now retired and volunteered to teach the missionaries at the MTC. Through all his teaching career he wanted the students to be excited about learning french. He was happy to teach the missionaries that were so excited to learn french. It was cute.

Ok. Have a great week. John is in San Diego teaching people how to use the software that his lab makes. Keep up all of the great work. -Aly

Cool pictures!

Hi Nathan,

Those are great pictures. The close-up of the little girl is so cute! Hey, I passed my test. Now, I am all done with my cumulative exams. It makes me very happy. John came to my test presentation. He was very bored. I think it made him glad that he is an engineer (heehehehe). I hope that you are doing great.

Conference Weekend

Hi Nathan,

We hope that you are doing great. We had so much fun at Fuddruckers last night. Ender told me that he can't wait until Uncle Nathan comes home. He's going to shoot you with a foam ball gun (hee hee). Wes and Annalee were telling us the funniest stories about Trieste and Sarah. Sarah likes video games!!! Trieste loved putting the candles on the cake for Uncle Kirk. Wes and Annalee are remodeling their house and raising the roof. They said it should be done by Christmas. Wes, Marek, Kirk, John, and Zeb can all talk about computer things and I have no idea what they are saying.

They talked a lot about missionary work in conference. I was thinking about you. I liked Elder Nelson's talk when he said that we not only preach the gathering of the ten tribes, but we participate in it on both sides of the veil. He talked about how all the other dispensations were limited in time and location. Each one ended in apostacy and was only limited to a small area. However, the last dispensation will never end and will cover the entire earth. Elder Nelson said that missionary work is crucial to the gathering of Israel.

I also liked what Elder Wirthlin said about the resurrection. We will be at our best physically, spiritually, and mentally. It made me laugh so much when he told the story of meeting his wife.

John said that he liked the story about the ironing machine that they told in Priesthood session.

John has been sick the last couple of days. He has a bad cold and has to take lots of medicine. He is going to go to San Diego on October 9th to help people learn how to use the software that his lab makes. Lucky! He will go hunting in Montana at the end of October. Lucky! William will go hunting too. Lucky!

I have another exam on Thursday. This time it is a presentation and all the professors ask me questions at the end. If I pass this time, then I will be done with all of my cumulative exams!!! I hope that I will be able to do well, or that they will grade easy. You never know how they are going to grade. John says that I should bring donughts. Tee hee tee hee.

We pray that you are doing great! We pray that you will be able to meet so many people who want to be baptized.

Love,
Aly and John
Wow. Should we call you president or elder. It sounds like the town you are in needs some civic pride. are the people always talking trash?
It is conference weekend. How's the prophet's Spanish? Pretty good I bet. We went to Fuddrucker's last night after Priesthood meeting. Naturally, we ate in your honor. We had John and Aly, Marek and Aubrey, Kirk and Shayna, Wes and Annalee, and various and sundry grandchildren. We also celebrated Kirk's birthday (it was on the 26th). We gave him and sweatshirt. Of course, we beat the crowd.
Kirk's new neighbors are good about inviting him to church. even the bishop came over to their house to meet him and Shayna. Also brynn and ethen are making good friends in the neighborhood too, so can church attendance be far behind.
Ender is growing and getting cuter every day.
Trieste spent the night with us last night. She is a lot of fun.
I mowed and fertilized the lawn yesterday. Every time I mow I think of you. I am really sacrificing to have you be a missionary.
I slept in until 9:30 this morning. I didn't know that I could sleep that long.
I hate to say this--but our family has been really blessed while you have been a missionary. That must mean that you are a really good missionary.
Love and Kisses, DAD
